Winter 2011: Recreator has been invited by the Sci-Fi London Film Festival to screen April 27th at the majestic Apollo Theater on Piccadilly. Stiff competition that week from the royal wedding of Kate and Will on the 29th, but we feel Recreator has the better genes.
October 2010: Recreator is on a roll. The Eerie Horror Fest in Erie, PA has invited us to screen October 8 at the historic Warner Theater, and on Friday October 22 we are the primetime feature at the Terror Fest in Philadelphia.
August 2010: Recreator played to a full house at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake on August 19, and then opened the next day at the local State Theater for a week of preview screenings where audience reaction was highly favorable. November 4, 2009: After five weeks of shooting, Recreator has wrapped production. The cesspool set hosted the final shot, as a geyser of sludge erupted high into the air, courtesy of the Tupper Lake Fire Department. Post-production has commenced in New York City.
September 28, 2009: Production has begun on the sci-fi thriller Recreator on location in the Adirondack Park of upstate New York. In mid-September production offices were opened in Tupper Lake, NY where the production will film at a local lodge in the style of the great camps. The historic OWD factory--now closed--has been converted to a soundstage for the construction and shooting of a large set representing the secret underground laboratory of the Recreator.
December 2008: A special one-hour version of Jack L. Warner: The Last Mogul has been released on DVD by Warner Home Video as part of their high-definition Blu-ray release of Casablanca. September 2008: New York's VISIONFEST '08 film festival selected The Terror Tapes as a finalist for its feature screenwriting award.
Spring 2008: Alone received an Honorable Mention for "cinematic excellence" at the The Rochester International Film Festival's 50th anniversary short film program.
September 2006: IFP New York has invited The Terror Tapes into the No Borders co-production section of this year's market, held at the famous Puck Building September17-21. Also available is a new 3-minute trailer for the project, which captures the look of the project's surveillance-camera sources.
Summer 2006: Gregory Orr was honored with an "Emerging Filmmaker" award by the nice people at the Woods Hole Film Festival in Massachusetts where Alone played to an appreciative crowd happy to get out of the sun (see the festival Web site for details).
New Project. Gregory Orr Productions is developing its first slate of feature films, including a psychological thriller set in upstate New York, a political exposé examining America's war on terror, and a light-hearted comedy about a very serious subject.
Orr Signed by ICM. Gregory Orr has been signed for representation by International Creative Management agency. Agents Ben Smith and Renee Tab were introduced to Greg's short film Alone by agent Toni Howard, whose husband producer David Yarnell caught the film at a screening in Los Angeles.
Visionfest Award. Gregory Orr was awarded an Outstanding Achievement in Direction award by the 2005 Visionfest Film Festival in New York City for his short film Alone. It is the first time the festival has given the award to a short film, and not a feature.
